...you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you” (Phil 4: 13)
GOD needs ordinary to do extraordinary
This morning we came to proclaim that we serve a God that is able to do extraordinary things with an ordinary person like you.
He is the God of unlimited capacity.
He is omnipotent (all powerful God).
Before I can move forward I want you to realize that we are not the result of an experiment but before we came to exist, we existed in God’s mind.
God never wasted talents, time, or potential; we were designed to fulfil something great and good.
You are important in God’s eyes.
Like my pastor loves to say, if there was only 1 person on earth God would have sent Jesus only for that person to be saved.
You are so precious and valuable to your creator.
Let no circumstances make you think otherwise or let no one make you feel otherwise.
To achieve great things in life you don’t need to be extraordinary, you just need to be an ordinary person with an extraordinary God.
With God we shall do wonders, David will say: “For by You I can run through a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall”
You have to understand that walls will always be there, obstacles will always be there but with God he gives me the ability, he empowers me, he makes me able, he inspires me with the strategies to overcome them.
Remember Moses, God told Moses what do you have in your hand, he answered a staff, it took an ordinary staff with an extraordinary God to do miracles;
Remember Jesus with the boy who had 5 breads and 2 fishes; it took so little with the power of Jesus to feed a multitude.
Probably you are saying to yourself:
I wish I could
I wish I had
I wish I knew so and so
We can tell you to stop wishing that you could, but know that you can do all things through Christ, who strengthens you,
Stop saying I wish I had, for the one within you is greater than the one in this world;
Stop wishing you knew someone, for the creator of heaven and earth, the creator of things we can see and cannot see knows you and He knows you very well. He is aware of your condition, He is aware of your circumstances, He is fully aware. His name is faithful; the one who has started a good work in you will carry it to his accomplishment.
Praise God!!!
We are going to read a wonderful story very well known in the book of Jeremiah chap 1, from verse 4 to verse 12
Here what the bible says:
The word of the LORD came to me, saying,
5 "Before
I formed you in the womb I knew [a]
you,
before you were born I set you apart;
I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."
6 "Ah, Sovereign LORD," I said, "I do not know how to speak; I am only a child."
7 But the LORD said to me, "Do not say, 'I am only a child.' You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. 8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you," declares the LORD.
9 Then the LORD reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, "Now, I have put my words in your mouth. 10 See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant."
11 The
word of the LORD came to me: "What do you see, Jeremiah?"
"I see the branch of an almond tree," I replied.
12 The LORD said to me, "You have seen correctly, for I am watching [b] to see that my word is fulfilled."
A short story
Jeremiah was the son of Hilkiah. Hilkiah was in the line of Abiathar who was the priest closest to King David. At the end of David's reign, his son Adonijah attempted to forcefully take David's throne with Abiathar's blessing. When Abiathar failed and Solomon was made King, Abiathar was banished to Anathoth. The descendents of Abiathar never would regain the respect and status that they originally had. Jeremiah would be the last in line to ever think that God would use him.
But remember that God’s thoughts are not our thoughts and his ways are not ours.
While you are looking at your condition and the world around you, and while you are looking at your past God is looking at your future.
COUPLE KEY POINTS I WOULD LIKE SHARE WITH US
Key #1.
GOD knew you and he had a purpose for you this is why he designed you.
God knew you since the beginning, he had a plan and a purpose for you then after he made the decision to design you. Therefore you are not to live as a cheap copy of someone else, you are unique and original. God has designed you with details that are to help you to accomplish the reason why you were born.
Now let me open up a bracket: to discover your purpose is not magic, it’s not fasting 40 days, the things you know you normally do easily without anyone else being on your back, the things you will love to do even without getting paid; things that set you on fire or make you cry.
Those things can help you to reveal your purpose and focus on it.
You don’t have to go out there and be the next mother Theresa, but you can start by impacting your surroundings, your community, your place of work, your house, your family.
Key #2
Jeremiah, says the Lord, I have chosen you. Me the creator of heaven and earth, the one who brought out of captivities your fathers, the one who walked with Moses, Joshua and Gideon, I the Lord have chosen you.
But Jeremiah’s answer was something like this: “God probably you are mistaken for I’m a little boy and don’t know how to speak.”
How many times do we doubt whenever we hear the voice of God?
May be not as Jeremiah heard it, but we have the grace to have what happened with these great men of God but also what happened when the great Rabbi of all time lived on Earth Jesus in one book called the bible, the bible is God’s word to us.
What is our reaction to God’s word?
When the word of God says, nothing is impossible to those who believe, you start looking at yourself and say I have not yet done this and that how can I be able to achieve this plan.
When the Word of God says that no temptation will come to you that you cannot overcome, now you start saying to yourself I have tried many times and I cannot resist to this temptation it’s so strong. The question is have you really tried to resist?
If the word of God says ask and it shall be given unto you, your first reaction is I have prayed and I’m tired and I have received nothing, the true version of that scripture says ask until you receive as long as you have not receive continue to ask according to his perfect will revealed in His Word.
You are healed says the Word by his wounds. What is your reaction? Do you believe in God’s report or in the doctor’s report regarding your sickness?
God shall provide to your need according to his glorious riches
Do you say: “Oh my God you should see the economy today?”
God’s provision to you doesn’t depend on the economy of our world, but it depends on Him alone.
Key #3
God is asking you to trust him, not your ability but to trust him; he told Jeremiah that I will be with you, the same word He gave Joshua centuries ago. It is the same word He gave to Jeremiah, it is the same word that Jesus told his disciple I will never leave you alone, I will be with you until the end; and today is the same word getting to you. FEAR NOT for I am with you.
May be you are feeling so lonely in your life, lonely in the situation you are facing, but the good news is don’t feel lonely for He is right there with you only if you can trust him and surrender to him totally.
Key #4
God has given to Jeremiah the power to up root and tear down, to build and plant.
Jesus says that I have given you the power to walk over the power of darkness and it will not harm you, a name has been given unto us above all other names, in His names we are able to bring down fortresses and strongholds to destroy the devil’s plan against our life, to break down the power of sins.
We are also able to build and plant, God has entrusted us the ability to plan, to think over and come up with good plans, so don’t spend your energy thinking about how bad your situation is, use it to think on different ways you can come out of it and pray about it with the help of the Holy Spirit you shall be victorious.
Key #5
God is giving you his assurance and tells you that he is behind his word to make sure that it will come to pass.
God is God and there is nothing above God, but God agreed to submit himself to His own word. He said that He will make sure that His word will come to pass no matter what!! “Heavens and earth shall pass but not what I said” says the Lord. If He proclaimed it He will do it, for he is God
YOU CAN COUNT ON HIS FAITHFULNESS, even though you have been unfaithful.
CONCLUSION
If you want to be an extraordinary person or do extraordinary thing
1. Acknowledge that you are created for a purpose
2. Have faith in what God is telling you , have faith in His Word
3. Fear not for God is with you
4. Remember that you have the power to overcome the devil’s plan in Jesus name and you can think over and come out victorious from any situation by his Grace.
5. You can count on God’s faithfulness; he will never let you down.
PRAYER
1. Repentance from any kind of sin, from unbelief or doubt
2. You are going to destroy and break down all kind of plans the enemy has against your lives and your family in Jesus name
3. You are going to confess great things to happen in your life, in your family. Be your own prophet and the prophet of your house.
